Johnson Controls Installs
The Powerhouse at New Labs

The Powerhouse is being installed at Johnson Controls New Sustainability Labs?  The 105,000 sq’ facility will be complete in early 2025, possibly sooner.  What are they building?  One of the world’s largest and Smartest Engineering and Sustainability Companies chose The Powerhouse to be installed at the Main Switchgear where all incoming power will be delivered.
JCI’s VP of Global Facilities, met with the Powerhouse team in Milwaukee in 2019.  They invent and distribute smart energy conditioning products.  The meeting was attended by JCI’s VP of Global Facilities, 2 other engineers and the VP of Research and Development, they were sure they had seen a product like ours and it would not be any different than other “black boxes”.  15 minutes into my presentation they acknowledged that we had a unique product, and did we have a sold NDA and do you have a strong patent?  They knew we had something, but would it work?
They tasked us with a problem facility in Florida.  I visited the site and sized the facility for a Powerhouse.   They had been experiencing issues for 18 months, including weekly blips and replacing $500.00 per week in lighting and drivers that were the latest design and only installed for 18 months.  We installed and after 2 weeks, no events. After 30 days, no events.  After 60 days, no events.  After 90 days, no events after 1 year, 2 years, 3 years No Events.
The Powerhouse team joined a JCI conference call with engineers, architects and general contractors, along with Graybar the EC.  They explained they would be building one of the smartest, greenest, and most sophisticated labs in the world dedicated to inventing Sustainability Products.  They had such great results with The Powerhouse over the 3 previous years that they wanted it to serve as the Premium Product delivering Optimal Efficiency and Clean Energy, to the Facility. On that day we started working with the team to size a unit for the new facility.  The P.O. Came in about 10 months ago.  Graybar and JCI knew the #600 Autovar unit with filters and conditioners would take 8-10 months to be delivered and it did.  We shipped it last week.  It is now being installed next week.
Why is this so important?  We install units across the country and internationally.  What would this single unit be a pivotal moment for us?  Well, it is JCI!.  They can buy any energy conditioner in the world.  They have access to all products invented globally.  THEY CHOSE THE POWERHOUSE,
Everyone knows JCI.  Everyone has most likely done business with them.  Schools, Governments, Cities, Manufacturing,  Hotels, Office Towers, Data Centers etc., all trust JCI.  They have chosen The Powerhouse as their preferred power conditioner above every single product in the world!
Here is an excerpt from an article about the facility.
The headquarters building proudly holds a Platinum rating of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), the highest available for sustainable construction and operation of buildings. In addition, the campus earned a WELL Building Standard™ Health Safety seal, certifying that evidence-based measures and best practices for the health and safety of employees have been adopted and verified.
The campus also has many sustainable features, demonstrating Johnson Controls’ commitment to the environment and reducing emissions including:
  • A solar thermal system on the roof that produces hot water for the campus (except the cafeteria), a total of 2,837 therms annually
  • A ground-mounted solar photovoltaic array totaling 1,452 panels covering 31,115 square feet; it generates 250 kW to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 827,000 pounds each year
  • A closed-loop heat exchanger relying on 272 geothermal wells that use subsurface temperatures to warm and cool the water supply
  • Heat pumps that reduce winter heating costs by around 29%
  • Skylights and increased window space that reduce use of energy for lighting
  • About 12,000 square feet of green roof that reduces runoff, insulates the building, and extends the life of the roof
  • A 30,000-gallon cistern captures rainwater, reducing consumption for low-flow fixtures and dual-flush toilets by 77% and saving of 595,000 gallons annually
  • More than 13 acres of native prairie vegetationA 30,000-gallon cistern captures rainwater, reducing consumption for low-flow fixtures and dual-flush toilets by 77% and saving of 595,000 gallons annually
  • Nearly three acres of parking lot surfaced with permeable pavers, allowing water to filter through to a gravel base before moving via groundwater to a detention pond
